About the role
The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for (3) Group Life Coordinators 2. These are full-time permanent state positions located within The Oregon Youth Challenge Program in Bend, Oregon.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the care, control, safety and security of youth in a 24/7 facility
- Serve as a supervisor, emphasizing safety, personal growth, teamwork, and the program’s eight core components
- Maintain a safe training environment and promote positive youth development
- Monitor and report the behavior of cadets during daily activities, offsite community projects, academic instruction, meals, and extracurricular activities
- Work effectively with youth who may have social, economic, emotional, or behavioral challenges
- Aid in the development of short- and long-term goals, conflict resolution, and life skills
- Plan, lead, and participate in daily physical fitness activities, including running and calling cadence
- Provide classroom instruction on a variety of topics related to program standards and character development
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- High school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent
- Six months experience observing, evaluating, developing, or understanding human performance, relations, and interactions
- Certificate or Associate degree in a behavioral science, education, criminal justice, or related field
- Six months prior military, law enforcement, or corrections experience
Qualifications
- Pass a physical fitness standard in accordance with program requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Pass a fingerprint-based criminal background and abuse check
- Maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace
- Maintain physical fitness standards (tested annually)
- Maintain military style grooming standards
- Wear a modified military uniform and safety equipment as required

- Ability to work effectively with youth facing social, economic, emotional, or behavioral challenges
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan, lead, and participate in physical fitness activities
- Knowledge of program standards and character development

Pay
$4,736.00 - $5,984.00 per month
Schedule
Varying shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays; occasional overnight travel; and frequent schedule changes due to limited resources, National Guard drills, illness, and vacation.
