About the role

The Groundsworker, Licensed position is responsible for maintaining and managing the grounds of the university, including landscaping, lawn maintenance, irrigation, snow removal, and other related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the grounds of the university, including landscaping, lawn maintenance, irrigation, and snow removal.
  • Operate heavy equipment and maintenance equipment, such as mowers, chainsaws, and snow removal equipment.
  • Lift heavy items up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors continuously.
  • Drive throughout the university to work areas by use of University vehicles.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements

  • 3 years of professional/commercial landscape construction experience.
  • 3 years of experience of professional/commercial lawn maintenance experience.
  • 3 years of professional/commercial irrigation experience, installing and troubleshooting.
  • 3 years of professional/commercial snow removal experience including snow removal equipment, i.e. plows, snow blowers, etc.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Must have and maintain a Mass Hoisting License, minimum 2B.
  • Knowledge of planting, trimming and pruning using hand or power equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors continuously.
  • Ability to speak, read, understand and write fluently in the English language.
  • Required to drive throughout the university to work areas by use of University vehicles.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a valid Massachusetts driver's license and a Mass Hoisting License, minimum 2B. They should also have knowledge of basic safety procedures and experience with heavy equipment and maintenance equipment.

Skills

  • Proficient in operating heavy equipment and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and regulations.
