Grounds Maintenance Worker - Building & Grounds

About the Role

This is a full-time position with benefits. The Grounds Maintenance Worker performs a variety of landscaping and maintenance duties to keep park areas clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, plants flowers and shrubs, and maintains landscaping.
• Uses weed eaters around signs and fence lines, edges curb lines, and clears leaves, tree limbs, and other debris from park areas.
• Spreads and hauls ground cover, dirt, or mulch; applies herbicides and pesticides.
• Prunes trees and shrubs, weeds flower beds, aerates and spreads grass seed.
• Services irrigation systems and grooms/lines ball fields.
• Removes snow and ice as needed.
• Operates County vehicles and various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies (e.g., lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, tillers, tractors, dump trucks, chippers, backhoes).
• Picks up trash and debris at park facilities and cleans restrooms.
• Inspects playgrounds for safety and makes necessary repairs to equipment.
• Performs general maintenance tasks to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition (e.g., inspecting, checking fluid levels, greasing, cleaning).
• Monitors equipment operations for efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level or equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license for operating vehicles and equipment.

Pay

Starting salary: $37,477.24
