Groundskeeper - Facilities & Maintenance

Job Description

The Groundskeeper is responsible for performing necessary skills and demonstrating knowledge relating to the grounds maintenance department to provide positive guest experience. Essential Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Interior maintenance of plant life throughout the Hotel & Casino
  • Plants and trims lawns, trees, bushes, hedges, and shrubs using hand tools or motorized vehicles
  • Landscapes new ground areas, repairs damaged ground areas, replaces bushes, hedges, shrubs, and trees
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter
  • Responsible for daily upkeep of the property buildings and grounds which includes cleaning and removing of trash
  • Responsible for the care, maintenance and inventory of all supplies and equipment owned by the property and/or the management company
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months - 1 year experience in landscape maintenance both exterior and interior
  • Possess a basic knowledge of plant material, turf, pruning and fertilization of outdoor landscape materials and landscape equipment used
  • Possess a basic knowledge of interior plant material use and care
  • Possess knowledge of irrigation systems and controls
  • Possess basic understanding of forklift operations and sweeper operations
  • Capable to work in extreme outdoor conditions
  • Safety conscious
  • Possess attention to detail and follow written instructions
  • Ability to work as a team player to accomplish goals of the engineering department
  • Ability to read and write English and be able to effectively communicate with external guests and internal guests

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to general public and excessive noise
  • Exposure to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, second hand smoke and excessive noise
  • Constantly standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, tasting or smelling
  • Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
