About the role
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the landscaping and grounds maintenance throughout Centinela State Prison. The role involves supervising the conduct of inmates, ensuring order, and safeguarding the safety of persons and property.
Responsibilities
- Maintain order and supervise inmate conduct
- Protect safety of persons and property
- Maintain all landscaping and grounds maintenance
- Plant, cultivate, water, and spray ornamental plants, shrubs, hedges, trees, and flowers
- Propagate cuttings
- Care for lawns
- Maintain plants around the institution

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include possession of the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s).
Skills
Knowledge of proper methods of planting, cultivating, and caring for hedges, ornamental trees, shrubs, lawns, and flowers; gardening materials, tools, and equipment, and their use and care; approved methods and materials used in controlling and eradicating common plant diseases and insect pests. Skill in performing miscellaneous gardening and grounds maintenance work.

Pay
$4,143.00 - $5,156.00 per Month
Schedule
This is a 12-month Limited Term position that may be extended to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
