Responsibilities
- Oversee grounds team members and weekly upkeep of Suburban Inns grounds, including landscaping and snow removal.
- Assist with oversight of warehouse activities: storage, receiving, dispatching, security, maintenance, sanitation, and administrative functions.
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment (mowers, tractors, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, etc.).
- Use hand tools (shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge trimmers).
- Mow, edge, and maintain lawns using power mowers, edgers, weed whips, and leaf blowers.
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
- Inspect and maintain equipment, tools, and machinery; assist with general repairs.
- Perform weekly and annual grounds maintenance (mulching, fertilizing, sprinkler upkeep, pruning, etc.).
- Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and other grounds features.
- Clean flower beds; rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
- Mix and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides using hand or automatic sprayers.
- Remove snow using plows, shovels, or Gehl equipment.
- Maintain awareness of company fleet vehicles, trailers, rental equipment, and tools; ensure routine upkeep.
- Follow proper securing protocols (chaining, tiedowns) for transporting equipment.
- Adhere to established safety rules and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Maintain a positive attitude and boost team morale.
- Hold team members accountable to Suburban Inns’ core values and performance standards.
- Follow all Suburban Inns processes and undertake special projects as requested by management.
- Exhibit regular and recurrent attendance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; background in landscape and leadership.
- Valid driver’s license, signed nondisclosure and confidentiality agreement, and passed background check.
- Ability to interpret information, perform arithmetic functions, and use typing, record-keeping, and word-processing tools.
- Excellent communication skills.
Work Environment
- Work schedule varies: days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends based on business demands.
- Travel to other Suburban Inns properties and off-site meetings required.
- Uniform: Closed-steel toed shoes and long pants; safety-colored work shirts provided.
- Appearance guidelines:
- Facial piercings require management approval.
- Hair must be well-groomed.
- Visible tattoos must be approved in writing by management; offensive tattoos must remain covered.
