Scope of Work
The Grounds & Operations Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of parking facilities and surrounding property. This role supports daily parking operations by performing custodial, groundskeeping, minor maintenance, snow removal, and operational support duties. The position requires flexibility to assist with a variety of operational tasks including landscaping, property upkeep, equipment operation, bus fueling support, and winter weather response.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to cleaning requests and maintain assigned work areas, while supporting parking operations through tasks such as cleanup, landscaping, minor repairs, and routine property maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of parking lots, walkways, restrooms, and common areas
- Perform basic groundskeeping and property upkeep including debris removal, seasonal cleanup, landscaping support, and maintaining safe pedestrian pathways
- Actively participate in snow removal operations during winter weather events, including shoveling and salting walkways and common areas as needed
- Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms as needed
- Identify and address safety hazards, including ice buildup, debris, damaged surfaces, slippery floors, or broken glass, to ensure all areas are safe for employees, customers, and visitors
- Utilize an iPad or similar mobile device to communicate with supervisors, receive assignments, and document operational updates or issues
- May be assigned to work at another property during times of operational need, crisis, or special assignments
- Ensure property appearance meets or exceeds SPS standards
- Complete grounds work as directed by SPS Management and follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines
Compensation
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour (based on experience), medical, vision, dental, life insurance, 401k
Shifts
Shifts: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm – Days off to Be Determined
Qualifications
- Valid US driver's License with at least 3 years of experience
- Capable of operating a snowplow-equipped pickup truck and a skid steer (or willing to be trained) for snow removal and property maintenance, as well as performing manual snow removal, including shoveling and applying salt or ice melt
- Able to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors and team members
- Able to write basic reports and clearly document situations for management review
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical equipment to perform minor maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaky faucets or replacing light bulbs
- Comfortable working outdoors and in varied weather conditions
