GROUNDS / CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR
About the role
This position is responsible for scheduling, assigning, and supervising a crew to perform grounds construction and maintenance tasks. The position also involves estimating project costs, operating various construction equipment, and coordinating with vendors and site administrators.
Responsibilities
- Schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of a grounds construction and maintenance crew
- Estimates the cost of labor and materials for construction projects
- Performs skilled work in block wall construction, cement pouring and finishing, and roofing removal and installation
- Operates backhoe, skiploader tractor, cement mixer, and concrete finishing tools and equipment
- Meets and confers with outside vendors and contractors
- Captures and reports on the status of ongoing projects to the Director of Facilities
- Trains employees on safe working procedures and monitors their performance
- Coordinates schedules and projects with site administrators
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or its equivalency
- Three years of full-time experience in grounds construction and maintenance work, including fence and block wall construction, cement pouring and finishing
- Desirable: supervisory experience and roofing removal and installation experience
Qualifications
- A valid, Class C, California Driver License, and a good driving record
- Completion of the Asbestos Containing Building Material (ACBM) training within the probationary period
Skills
- Skilled in grounds construction and maintenance work
- Ability to operate various construction equipment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision

Pay
The salary range for this position is Range 25.5, with an advanced salary step placement possible upon initial hire.
Schedule
The position is eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week, twelve (12) months per year. Hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
