Work Performed
Sets up and operates internal, centerless, surface, external, thread and universal grinders for production, experimental, and tool work.
Must be able and is required to perform any type of difficult grinding work on any and all types of grinders.
- Grinds steps, tapers, recesses, shoulders, angles, contours, and threads.
- Selects proper speeds, feeds, and wheels.
- Holds work for required tolerances.
- Setups are exacting, usually requiring firm and accurately set fixtures, rests or blocks.
Tools & Equipment Used
- All types of grinders
- Machinists’ hand tools
- Precision measuring instruments
Experience & Other Requirements
- Two (2) years of production grinding experience or the equivalent technical education.
