Graphic Arts Associate (Part-time) Instructor Pool 2026 - 2027
MiraCosta College is accepting applications to build a pool of instructors for possible future part-time assignments at all locations. Applications are valid through June 30, 2027, and will expire at that time.
About the role
Under direction, plan, organize, and teach assigned courses in an instructional field or discipline in accordance with approved course outlines, education code requirements, and faculty contract provisions. Provide feedback and guidance to students, evaluate student performance, and perform related duties as assigned. Instructors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility, including days, evenings, or weekends.
Residency Requirement
MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800 requires all associate faculty employees to maintain a principal place of residence in California within 200 road miles of their regularly assigned district worksite. This policy ensures efficiency, continuity, student accessibility, and responsiveness to emerging student needs.
- Associate faculty with fully online assignments must reside within California but may live beyond the 200-mile limit without exception.
- The District may consider temporary exceptions (up to 12 consecutive months) for residency outside California or beyond the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis.
Pay
Hourly rate: $93.42 to $113.65. Initial placement is based on education, with all new associate faculty starting at step 1.
- Fall or Spring Semesters: Hourly Pay Rate × # of LHE* assigned × 18.5 hours per LHE = Total Pay for the Semester
- Summer Sessions: Hourly Pay Rate × # of LHE* assigned × 16.5 hours per LHE = Total Pay for the Session
*LHE – Lecture Hour Equivalent (an LHE value is assigned to each course).
