About the role
Operations Officer I performs professional work in planning, coordinating, overseeing, or directing an administrative, programmatic, or technical operation for an agency or program. Work may involve supervising or managing clerical, paraprofessional, professional, or technical personnel. Incumbents receive managerial supervision and work a conventional work week. Some positions may require evening, weekend hours, or 24-hour callback in emergencies. Work is performed in an office with normal conditions and minimal physical exertion.
Pay
Salary range: $73,897.00 – $118,515.00 annually
Hiring salary range: $73,897.00 – $96,206.00 annually

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Two years of experience in technical, administrative, professional, or project management work
- Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or equivalent, and eligibility to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit (provisional or learner’s permits are not acceptable)

- Methods for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and presenting information
- Basic principles of accounting, budgeting, fiscal controls, and statistics

- Identifying problem areas and recommending solutions based on logical alternatives
- Interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures
- Preparing and presenting clear, concise reports or recommendations
- Compiling and analyzing financial and operational data
- Coordinating activities of organizational units
- Planning, organizing, and directing the work of others
- Researching and writing complex narrative and statistical reports
- Speaking and testifying effectively before governmental bodies, media, and community groups
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with city officials, community, and business groups
Additional Information
- Final candidates for positions of trust must complete a criminal background check and/or fingerprinting
- All selected candidates must complete a mandatory six-month probation
- This position requires a Financial Disclosure pursuant to City Ethics Law, due within 30 days of hire
- Education must be from an accredited institution; foreign credentials must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
