Grants Assistant Fellow
The Flash Forward Foundation is an energy-poverty-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2024, dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for students in under-resourced communities through sustainable lighting solutions. The organization designs, manufactures, and distributes solar-powered flashlights that enable students in areas without reliable electricity to study safely after dark. Through innovation, strategic partnerships, and hands-on volunteer engagement, Flash Forward Foundation improves learning conditions and empowers the next generation. The foundation also delivers educational workshops that introduce students and youth groups to STEM and renewable energy concepts, fostering curiosity and future opportunities. Support from leading organizations such as Microsoft, Google, Starbucks, Anthropic, and OpenAI helps advance its mission to bring light, education, and opportunity to students worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Research and shortlist foundations and grant programs that fund our mission
- Draft letters of inquiry and full proposals
- Track deadlines, requirements, and submission status
- Pull together the supporting materials funders ask for — budgets, impact data, org documents
Requirements
- No grant-writing experience required. We're looking for someone who can write clearly and follow through, not someone with a résumé full of nonprofit jobs.
- Unpaid, part-time, built around your schedule.
- In exchange: a real title, direct mentorship from a fundraising professional, and a recommendation letter when you complete the program.
