Sanctuary Centers of Santa Barbara is seeking a part-time to full-time (20-40 hours per week) Grant Writer with extensive experience in the Santa Barbara community and local foundations. This is an immediate opening for a self-starter with superior writing skills and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Research grant-making organizations and analyze them to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.
  • Prepare letters of intent, grant proposals, public funding applications, and grant reports.
  • Develop and maintain effective, long-term working relationships with grantors through stewardship activities.
  • Compile, write, and edit all grant applications exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling.
  • Review project or program budgets and make recommendations on presentation to grant-making organizations.
  • Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s preferences and guidelines.
  • Maintain contact with grant-making organizations during their review of submitted applications to supply additional supportive material.
  • Manage the process of supplying progress reports when required by a grant-making organization.
  • Administer and complete all required post-award reporting, compliance, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • At least five years of documented successful grant writing experience in Santa Barbara.
  • Impeccable references in the Santa Barbara community.
  • Strong computer skills, including five years of Microsoft Office experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must pass a DOJ background check and currently reside in Santa Barbara (or be willing to relocate).

Pay

$45,000–$97,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
