Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN)/ Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Ortho/Surgical
Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible and accountable for the quality care of patients assigned by utilizing the nursing process as defined in the Missouri Nurse Practice Act. The LPN will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. Demonstrates understanding of the unique physical and psychological needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information necessary to provide quality care.
About the Role
- Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse I - V, Department Director, Patient Care Manager, Shift Administrator and Vice President of Patient Care
- Responsible for the quality care of patients assigned
- Utilizes the nursing process as defined in the Missouri Nurse Practice Act
- Demonstrates understanding of the unique physical and psychological needs of various patient populations
- Absesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information necessary to provide quality care
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Assesses patient data accurately and uses this information to develop and implement a plan of care
- Documents patient progress in the medical record
- Administers medications as ordered by a physician
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care
- Participates in ongoing professional development activities
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved practical or vocational nursing program
- Licensed to practice in the State of Missouri or eligible for licensure while having a Missouri work permit
- BLS Certification
- IV Certified
Qualifications
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred, but not required
- Up to a $5,000 sign on bonus*
- Typical Hours: Night Shift, 7pm to 7am, every other weekend and holiday rotation
