About the role
Licensed new graduate nurse from an accredited nursing program who actively participates in the SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Provides professional nursing care to patients, including assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and monitoring tasks assigned to other members of the care team in accordance with professional nursing standards. Responsible for delivering age-appropriate care for patients with a wide variety of medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Performs specialized tasks based on demonstrated competence to provide nursing care for the patient population served.
- Performs patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age-appropriate needs, including nutrition, pain management, and signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect to develop, evaluate, and modify the patient's plan of care.
- Develops a realistic, comprehensive patient/family educational plan using appropriate resources and methods of instruction; provides patient/family health education and coaching.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation, including processing physician orders, in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates delivery of nursing care given by team members based on patient needs and professional judgment.
- Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Completes competency requirements.
- Applies evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to ensure nursing care is delivered based on patients' age-specific and clinical needs.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
- Eligible to practice as determined by the State Board of Nursing.
- Less than one year of experience working as an RN.
Physical Requirements
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms or malfunctioning machinery.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – State-specific licensing:
- Illinois: Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Missouri: Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN issued by a Compact State.
- Oklahoma: Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or RN issued by a Compact State.
- Wisconsin: Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services or RN issued by a Compact State.
Pay
Hourly pay range: $31.21 - $49.94. Compensation is based on relevant experience, labor market, and other qualifications. The posted range reflects what SSM Health reasonably expects to offer at the time of posting, with potential adjustments as permitted by law.

- Variable shift.
