GRADUATE NURSE - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

About the Role

The Graduate Nurse (GN) is responsible for providing nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The GN applies the nursing process and performs delegated functions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and CHMC policies.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (AA, BSN, or MSN).
• Must be in pursuit of licensure as a registered nurse.
• Must take the NCLEX exam within 90 days of hire.
• May not continue practicing as a GN if the NCLEX is failed.
• BLS certification required.
• Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications as required by the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 or other department requirements.

Qualifications

• New Graduate Nurse.

After successful completion of nursing boards and receipt of licensure, the GN will transition to an RN role.
