Grand Canyon University is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University located in Phoenix, Arizona.
About the role
This Graduate Assistant is an integral member of the Alumni & Annual Giving team and reports to the Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations. They will provide full administrative support in all departmental activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide full general office administration support in all departmental activities.
- Act as point person for student workers when the alumni team is traveling.
- Act as team lead for phone-a-thon.
- Participate in planning, preparation, and execution of all departmental events and tabling (home game tailgates, ZooLights, Wildlife World Zoo, Day of Giving, Homecoming, Parent & Family Weekend, Diamondbacks Night, etc.).
- Update records in the CRM system, enter gift details, and pull reports.
- Work extremely flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, especially during men’s basketball season.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Be admitted to a graduate degree-seeking program at GCU (certificate-only programs do not satisfy this requirement).
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (admission GPA is considered for newly admitted students). Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during employment.
- Be enrolled as a “regular” (not provisional) degree-seeking student for at least 6 graduate-level units leading to the degree (undergraduate or audited courses do not satisfy this requirement).
- Uphold the University’s Student Code of Conduct.
- Follow HR employment workflow processes and complete pre-employment background checks.
- Work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
- Remove “Incomplete” grades during the period following the teaching period in which the “I” was recorded to continue the assistantship.
- After all degree requirements are met, a student is no longer eligible for the graduate assistantship.

- Ability to work some nights and weekends.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission.
