About the role
The Grading General Superintendent will oversee grading and earthwork operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Oversee grading activities including mass excavation, fine grading, and subgrade preparation.
- Interpret and enforce project plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Cookordinate manpower, equipment, and subcontractors to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain accurate daily reports on production, equipment usage, and labor hours.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients regarding progress and issues.
- Aid in planning and forecasting equipment and material needs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Resolve conflicts and troubleshoot operational challenges promptly.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
- Work as a collaborative team player.
- Manage numerous projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Meet deadlines for deliverables with limited supervision.
- Possess strong work ethic.
- Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Perform other duties as directed or as appropriate to share team workload.
Safety Functions
- Enforce compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and job hazard analyses.
- Ensure all personnel have proper PPE and training for assigned tasks.
- Inspect equipment and work areas for hazards prior to use.
- Investigate and report any incidents or near misses immediately.
- Hold employees accountable for adherence to safety policies.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record per company standards.
- OSHA 30-hour certification required.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR and first aid training.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations related to grading and earthwork.
Required Education And Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in grading and site development.
- Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
