About the Role

4th Grade Elementary Teacher at Carver Elementary, starting Fall 2026. Work schedule: 8 hours/day, 194 duty days.

Qualifications

  • Valid MN teaching license in K-6 or 1-6 Elementary Education.
  • Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, and peer collaboration.
  • Meet the professional development requirements of the MN READ Act by having completed an MDE-approved professional development program (e.g., LETRS, CORE OL&LA, CAREI-ALL) or the ability to complete such training independently.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas, educational philosophy, teaching methods, current researched best practices, and strategies.
  • Considerable knowledge of students' learning styles, needs (academic and affective), multicultural, gender, and disability fair curriculum concepts.
  • Considerable knowledge of classroom management techniques.
  • Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
  • Considerable skill in classroom presentation, management, and organization.
  • Working skill in maintaining records and developing reports.
  • Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Considerable ability to plan and implement lessons based on district, school goals, and student needs.
  • Considerable ability to provide appropriate instruction in core subjects and adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations.
  • Considerable ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, administration, and community members of diverse backgrounds.
  • Considerable ability to evaluate student performance and foster higher achievement.
  • Considerable ability to work in a cooperative learning environment.
  • Working ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in core curriculum areas using appropriate instructional resources and technologies.
  • Implement the goals and objectives of the District and school/program.
  • Follow the prescribed course of study, except as authorized by curriculum outlines or official rules.
  • Evaluate student performance, promote achievement, maintain records, and report to the principal as required.
  • Maintain contact and communications with parents to support student development.
  • Perform classroom management duties, enforce District rules, and take disciplinary action as needed.
  • Enforce District health and hygiene guidelines in the classroom.
