Elementary Teacher (Grade 4)

Our mission at the Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) is to prepare students to attain family-sustaining careers by integrating career exploration and a lifelong learning culture. Founded in 2001 with 700 students in grades K-6, CSAT now serves approximately 2,300 students across three buildings (Elementary, Middle, and High Schools) from 19 school districts in Western New York.

About the role

The CSAT teacher is responsible for communicating knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner using a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources. As a team member, you will share common planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities. Teachers administer student assessments, communicate with parents about student progress, and plan for further instruction. You will reflect on your own practice, act as a coach for team members, and integrate technology into teaching and professional activities.

Responsibilities

• Implement school and district policies and procedures, as well as CSAT school performance standards.
• Collaborate with your team on curriculum and student needs, including ongoing communication with parents.
• Participate in curriculum development and implementation.
• Integrate technology into the instructional program and demonstrate professional use.
• Act as a coach/mentor to other teachers on the team in areas of personal expertise.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse student populations.
• Establish and manage student-directed classrooms where students work independently and in groups.
• Develop and use rubrics for instruction and assessment.
• Learn and apply new uses of technology tools for instruction, planning, and communication.
• Create and manage a responsive learning environment that ensures students feel safe, creative, and able to develop to their full potential.
• Develop family-school relationships that foster academic and social development.
• Write, implement, and evaluate your own professional development plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with completed student teaching experiences.
• At least two years of classroom experience with a satisfactory rating.
• Three positive professional recommendations.
• Strong background in classroom instruction and pedagogical skills.
• Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model.
• Highly organized, independent worker with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Pay

Competitive salary range: $45,000 – $55,000.

Position: Full-time, permanent, 10-month exempt role. Start date: ASAP. Location: Elementary School.
