GPO Sourcing Intern
About the role
This internship provides insight into the daily activities and requirements for sourcing, negotiating, managing, and maintaining an extensive contract portfolio targeting a diverse group of healthcare entities. The opportunity is designed to encourage growth over time, with potential for subsequent internships and consideration for permanent employment for candidates who excel.
The intern will assist with project management, operational execution, and contract document management while participating in meetings and discussions to gain learning experiences related to:
- Debating, discussing, and deciding on sourcing strategies
- Understanding how contract award decisions are made
- Learning about operational, clinical, technical, and financial considerations important to healthcare providers and patient care
- Identifying key contract terms and conditions and their significance
- Understanding supply chain transparency, resiliency, and factors in product selection and supplier partnerships
Responsibilities
- Operational tasks related to sourcing events, including maintenance of the Contract Lifecycle Management system (CLM) to ensure accurate reporting to internal and external customers ("members")
- Document management, including contract package development to assist members in operationalizing agreements at a local level
- Project management oversight, including managing multiple entry points of information into the sourcing event process and ensuring timeline targets are met
Qualifications
- Rising Juniors and Seniors in Supply Chain Management or other related Business Majors
- Team player with the ability to build and establish relationships with the sourcing team
- Ability to learn quickly and apply learnings in a business setting
- Self-starter with strong email and verbal communication skills, as well as time management capability
