Summary Of Job Duties

The role of Governmental Auditor 2 is to ensure that Tribal Gaming in the State of Oregon is conducted in accordance with the Tribal-State Compacts, Gaming Ordinances, Regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards, Game Rules, and Policies and Procedures. This is achieved by regular onsite monitoring for compliance of class III gaming activities at the assigned Tribal Gaming Facility(s). Additionally, you will serve as a Team Leader for annual comprehensive compact compliance reviews throughout the State of Oregon. As a representative of the State of Oregon, you may occasionally, as requested by the Tribal Gaming Commissions, perform special collaborative regulatory reviews, or assist in compliance investigations. Furthermore, you will also report criminal activity or security concerns and make proper notification to Section management and/or assigned area criminal detective for follow-up investigation(s).

The Tribal Gaming Section communicates with outside agencies and persons; investigates persons, businesses, management companies, and vendors associated with Indian Gaming. The Tribal Gaming Section conducts proactive crime prevention and enforcement at Tribal Gaming Centers. The Tribal Gaming Section is responsible for ensuring state security interests, as published in the various Tribal Gaming Compacts, are maintained and in accordance with specific controls that ensure fairness, integrity, security, and honesty of legalized Tribal gaming.

Working Conditions

Subject to extensive weekly travel predominantly in-state and overnight, however, this also includes occasional out-of-state travel. High risk environments with compulsive behavior, gambling, and airborne tobacco smoke. You must be able to retain and effectively use training, including knowledge of gambling laws, practices, methods, knowledge of technical computerized equipment, and communication systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a business-related field, such as business administration, public administration, finance, economics, computer science, etc., AND two years of auditing experience.
  • Twenty quarter hours of college courses in a business or financial field such as the areas listed above AND two additional years of auditing experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Successful completion of the duties and training as an Oregon Governmental Auditor (Entry) will substitute for one year of auditing experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong organizational practices with the ability to set priorities and have exceptional listening, analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to manage travel schedule with frequent overnight travel.
  • Demonstrated ability to objectively investigate and show good use of judgment.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with Tribal and other governmental agencies.
