Goodwill Store Manager

About the Role

Manage all aspects of a retail thrift store, including staffing, donation processing and pricing, sales floor presentation, and administrative oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Manage store logistics, inventory, and store performance/goals.
  • Oversee the entire donated goods process: from donation door to production area to sales floor to preparation for outlet/recycling.
  • Merchandise sales floor.
  • Oversee production and pricing of donated merchandise.
  • Maintain a safe and clean store environment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Supervise daily operations of the store management team.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and terminate staff.
  • Work as a team to meet budget and production goals.
  • Ensure adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular and accurate reporting to human resources, asset protection, safety, finance, and other departments.
  • Complete required safety assessments.
  • Oversee store budget, staffing, and goals.

Requirements

  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience supervising and hiring staff.
  • Retail management experience preferred.
  • Computer skills, including email, intranet, metrics applications for data entry, Microsoft Word, webinar/conference call, etc.
  • Budget management and tracking experience.
  • Leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to read, write, and speak English to communicate with staff and customers.
  • Able to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility.
  • Able to lift and carry 20-100 pounds with team lifting or mechanical assistance.
  • Able to stand, stoop, bend, or carry for extended periods.
  • Tolerant to extreme changes in temperature and humidity.
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week.
  • Must work evenings, weekends, and extended shifts to manage the store’s needs.
  • Reliable transportation, a good driving record, valid driver’s license, and proof of personal vehicle insurance.
  • Pass DMV check.
  • Completion of a background check (acknowledging or having criminal convictions does not constitute an automatic bar to employment).

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience, preferably in retail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Pay

$30.50 per hour with potential incentive pay.
