Position Summary

The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is seeking its next Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent for Eagle Pointe Golf Club. This role comes at a pivotal time in Eagle Pointe’s history, following the retirement of a respected Superintendent.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide overall agronomic leadership to ensure the highest standards of turf quality, course conditioning, and presentation.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic programs, including fertilization, integrated pest management, irrigation scheduling, and cultural practices.
  • Manage, maintain, and optimize irrigation and drainage systems to promote healthy turf and water efficiency.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate maintenance staff to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and attention to detail.
  • Prepare, administer, and manage the annual maintenance budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while maintaining premium course conditions.
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and pesticide application requirements.
  • Manage equipment fleet maintenance and replacement planning to achieve optimal performance, reduce sunken maintenance costs, and maximize lifespan of assets.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and contract services.
  • Work with Department leadership to assess and address needs through capital improvement projects and fixed asset replacement schedule.
  • During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in golf course maintenance operations.
  • A non-commercial Political Pesticide Applicator License issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture within six (6) months of hire.
  • A valid Texas Driver License.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs.
  • Ability to direct and organize program activities.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.
