About the role

Kentucky State Parks is seeking a Golf Course Superintendent to maintain and oversee Pennyrile Forest Park Golf Course in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. This hands-on leadership role involves managing a team of maintenance personnel to ensure an exceptional golfing experience for guests. Full-time employees are eligible for the Department of Parks "Park Familiarization Program."

Responsibilities

• Staff training and supervision
• Plant regulatory product applications
• Equipment operation
• Irrigation application, repair, and maintenance
• Golf course set-up activities
• Record keeping

Requirements

• Associate degree in plant science, turf management, or a related field
• One year of experience as a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent
• Valid driver’s license
• Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License (N-18) within six months of employment
• Ability to work outdoors in various climatic conditions and handle potentially toxic materials (e.g., insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers)

Substitution: Three years as a golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent, combined with a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university, can substitute for the required education.

Skills

• Experience operating all equipment and performing tasks associated with golf course maintenance
• Budget creation and management, including agronomic planning
• Strong communication skills
• Golf course construction/renovation experience (a plus)
• Attention to detail and time management
• Leadership, teamwork, and decision-making skills
• Preventative maintenance experience

Pay

$22.16 - $33.24 hourly (Pay Grade 14).

Schedule

37.5 hours per week.
