GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

About the role

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department, Naval Station Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL. The purpose of this position is to provide the technical expertise to design and implement a program of maintenance for the Golf Course, driving range, practice putting green, which includes the greens, tees, fairways, roughs, the irrigation system, related facilities and equipment. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining the golf course within budgetary limitations.

Responsibilities

• Determines the requirements of pesticides, chemicals, fertilizer and grass seed needed for the upkeep of an 18 hole Golf Course.
• Tours the Golf Course to review work in progress and to observe the condition of the Golf Course.
• Ensures the proper functioning of the irrigation system and determines the correct amount of water applied on greens, tees and fairways under various climatic conditions.
