Global Operations Allocation Manager
About the Role
The Allocation Manager sits at the critical intersection of Supply Chain, Sales, and Finance. In this role you will act as the strategic gatekeeper of our inventory, ensuring that available product is deployed to maximize financial return and honor key customer commitments. You will analyze large and exceptional orders, manage supply constraints, and partner directly with the Sales organization to validate true customer demand versus requested quantities. This position requires you to work on‑site at our San Mateo, CA office five days a week.
Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and approve large, exceptional, or out‑of‑cycle orders to ensure alignment with current supply capabilities and business strategy.
- Distribute constrained inventory across customer accounts based on strategic tiering, contractual commitments, and the company’s financial and revenue plans.
- Collaborate closely with Sales leadership and Account Managers to determine true customer “need” versus initial requests, preventing inventory hoarding and ensuring equitable distribution.
- Bridge the gap between long‑term supply plans and daily execution, acting as the final decision‑maker on order fulfillment priorities during stockouts or supply disruptions (S&OE).
- Partner with Finance to ensure allocation decisions support quarterly revenue targets, margin goals, and inventory turnover KPIs.
- Develop and implement standardized allocation playbooks, rules of engagement, and escalation procedures for the Sales and Supply Chain teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years in Supply Chain Operations, Logistics, Order Management, or Supply Chain Program Management.
- Direct experience with physical hardware, complex industrial equipment, or capital assets—not solely software or services.
- Proven experience managing multi‑pallet freight, WHS‑to‑WHS transfers, and US‑to‑International shipping, including working knowledge of Incoterms, customs, and freight forwarding.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and validate technical equipment specifications, trailer or vehicle configurations, and regional compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑quarter project rollouts using standard templates, ERPs, and CRMs to track progress.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between Sales (commercial needs), Product (technical constraints), and Warehousing (physical reality).
- Bias for action and high tolerance for ambiguity; excels at managing escalations and reprioritizing on the fly.
- Track record of influencing without authority and driving accountability across teams you do not manage.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, 3PL facilities, and partner locations as needed (approximately 10–20%).
- Must be willing and able to commute to the office five days a week.
Benefits
- Healthcare plans with premiums 100% covered for the employee (at least one plan) and 80% covered for family premiums.
- Nationwide medical, vision, and dental coverage.
