About the role
We are seeking an experienced equity investor to be a key member of our Consumer team within Global Industry Research (GIR) with responsibility for conducting research and making investment recommendations within the Apparel & Retail industry.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research and make investment recommendations within the Apparel & Retail industry.
- Generate superior investment returns through fundamental company, sector and industry research and analysis.
- Set and execute your own research agendas aligned with your individual philosophy and process.
- Be a thought leader in the Apparel & Retail industry, providing differentiated investment insights and guiding portfolio managers.
- Manage significant client assets across multiple concentrated alpha sleeves as part of our $150 billion research portfolios suite of products.
- Influence investment decision making of portfolio managers through respectful and rigorous debate of action-oriented investment ideas and stocks.
Requirements
- A minimum of 8+ years of consumer investing experience, ideally with specific risk-taking experience in apparel and retail companies.
- Identify key drivers of an industry, company, and stock, and think creatively about innovation and long-term winners and losers.
- Discern the primary factors influencing a specific industry and the companies within it.
- Exceptional analytical and valuation skills, able to make meaningful connections across a given sector.
- Global perspective and strategic thinking within the Consumer sector.
- Dedication to fiduciary responsibility, with a commitment to achieving positive client outcomes and upholding ethical standards.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and independently, taking full accountability and ownership of the narrative.
Qualifications
- Strong academic credentials; MBA or CFA/CAIA preferred.
- Stock picking acumen, alpha-generating skill, and passion.
- Forward-looking, able to comprehend and discern critical drivers of a stock.
- Comfort with ambiguity and taking risk, with a highly analytical and discerning mindset.
- Data agility and ability to build own data sets.
- Intellectual curiosity and differentiated thinking that translates into research insights.
- Proven ability to develop deep, long-term relationships with company management teams.
- Willingness to work with others to build on ideas, expand volume of stocks discussed, and embrace opposing views.
- Ability to communicate concisely, with conviction, and in an action-oriented manner.
- Growth mindset, relentlessly self-reflective, focused on 'getting better,' and eager to learn from and embrace different perspectives.
