About the role

The Global Director, Software and Digital Strategy owns the multi-year strategy and commercial architecture for the combined software portfolio spanning both platforms—procedure planning, predictive modeling, treatment confirmation, remote capability, and outcomes data. This role defines what the software portfolio must become, in what sequence, and how it is monetized, including the path from bundled software to a recurring software revenue model. The role sits in the upstream organization and partners closely with the hardware portfolio lead, platform R&D teams in the US and France, regulatory, clinical, and downstream commercial teams. This is a strategy and commercial-model role, not a software engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Own the combined software portfolio strategy across both platform brands: portfolio architecture, sequencing, convergence decisions, and the business case for each software investment.
  • Build and maintain the software commercial model: packaging and tiering, bundled versus subscription versus per-procedure structures, pricing corridors, and the multi-year path to recurring software revenue.
  • Lead pricing and willingness-to-pay research with hospitals and IDNs, including procurement pathway analysis for software in capital-equipment environments.
  • Define and track software adoption metrics across the installed base, and partner with downstream marketing and sales on installed-base conversion programs.
  • Partner with regulatory and clinical leadership on SaMD pathway planning, release-cadence strategy for regulated software, and evidence requirements that support commercial claims.
  • Run competitive intelligence on procedure planning, navigation, and guidance software, and translate it into portfolio and positioning decisions.
  • Synthesize voice-of-customer input from physicians, advisory panels, and field teams into software requirements and roadmap priorities.
  • Support corporate and investor materials with software portfolio and revenue-model content as directed.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in medical technology, including software, SaMD, or digital product strategy, portfolio management, or upstream marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience building commercial models for software sold alongside capital equipment (subscription, per-procedure, or hybrid), including hospital procurement dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulation of medical device software (510(k), SaMD frameworks) and the constraints it places on release cadence and claims.
  • Experience partnering with distributed R&D organizations; comfort operating across US and European teams.
  • Strong financial modeling and business-case skills; able to defend assumptions with senior leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interventional radiology, interventional oncology, surgical robotics, or imaging domain experience.
  • Experience commercializing planning, navigation, or AI-enabled imaging software.
  • Experience in a private-equity-backed or high-growth environment.
  • French language ability a plus.

Travel

Approximately 25–35%, including international travel to Montpellier, France.
