About the role
The Department of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center supports a large health system providing both primary and tertiary care. The advertised position is responsible for direct patient care and supervision at our downtown VCU Health campus and satellite locations. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills are required.
Responsibilities
- Direct patient care and supervision at VCU Health campus and satellite locations.
- Adhere to compliance measures.
- Establish and promote an atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effective communication between all staff disciplines.
- Foster a high level of patient and staff satisfaction.
- Residents and certified ophthalmic medical technicians assist with patient care and ancillary testing.
Qualifications
- Candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible/On Pathway toward Board Certification in Ophthalmology and have completed residency training in ophthalmology.
- Must possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
