Pay: $22/hour for a part-time schedule of 20 hours per week.
About the role
Individuals in this role support the production of high-quality geographic and demographic materials used for commercial real estate marketing and market analysis. This position focuses on learning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures while assisting other GIS staff within the commercial real estate industry. You will work with large data sets for geospatial analysis under manager direction and review.
Responsibilities
- Learn to support the production of map-based results using the ESRI suite, with a focus on paper/static or online map outputs.
- Use third-party mapping platforms (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) to produce high-quality aesthetic results.
- Assist the team with mapping workload overflow as needed.
- Acquire and maintain accurate market data (e.g., existing/proposed locations of office buildings, malls, shopping centers, retailers).
- Perform quality assurance and routine diagnostics on data and databases.
- Extract, format, and transform demographic- and location-related data from various databases for mapping services.
- Use protocols to identify problems with datasets and routine extraction processes, resolve issues, and systematize processes for future work.
- Log and prioritize work assignments using the company’s proprietary web-based map ordering and workflow management system.
- Help maintain a map library of commonly used maps and results for dedicated regions.
- Stay current with continuing internal training and assignments geared toward sophisticated GIS analysis.
Requirements
- Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geography or a related field.
- Undergraduate or graduate study as a rising senior majoring in Geography with a proven academic record (GPA of 3.0 or higher).
- At least 1 year of experience working with GIS Technology using ESRI.
- Meaningful experience integrating enterprise databases with GIS technology is preferred.
- Spatial data-related database design, scripting/GIS programming, and leadership skills are preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to co-workers.
- Ability to effectively present information.
- Knowledge of financial terms and principles; ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages and conduct basic financial analysis.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents, and solve problems involving several options.
- Basic to intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to take on multiple assignments while maintaining efficiencies and quality.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Suite (Desktop & Online), word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
- Knowledge of GIS terms and definitions.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate and the ability to work with mathematical concepts (e.g., fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions) is preferred.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
