About the role

SOCOTEC-Campbell Hall, NY, a well-established New York-based construction materials testing and inspection firm, is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer. SOCOTEC, a global leader in geotechnical engineering, has introduced geotechnical services in the Northeast. In addition to experienced field geologists, SOCOTEC offers a state-of-the-art laboratory, including a petrographic lab.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and project objectives.
  • Coordinate daily scheduling of staff assignments for field and laboratory work in support of projects.
  • Organize and oversee geotechnical field investigations, coordinate and monitor drilling operations, analyze subsurface data, and evaluate laboratory test results.
  • Provide support and leadership for regional staff, along with technical support for staff and clients.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor work, provide technical guidance, and address emergent issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, evaluations, and construction-level documents summarizing geotechnical findings and recommendations.
  • Regularly interface with clients and their project teams to maintain positive client relations and service quality.
  • Assist with recruitment, hiring, and retention of staff.
  • Perform testing and/or inspection of materials as necessary, including all associated documentation and reporting activities.
  • Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing, as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geology, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering license in New York, or the ability to obtain licensure; other professional certifications (NICET, ACI, etc.) are a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports and proposals.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors as needed.

All positions may require lifting and/or physical activities, including lifting up to 75 lbs., walking/working on uneven surfaces, and driving to and from job sites. The majority of work is conducted outdoors in all weather conditions. Work hours vary and may include day, night, and weekend shifts.

Pay

$75,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
