Geotechnical Engineer
About the role
We have a great opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Morristown, New Jersey / New York offices and be part of the Geotechnical Group for the Northeast region. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through construction, working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in highways, rail, water, environmental, ports and maritime, and advanced facilities sectors.
Responsibilities
- Design of shallow and deep foundations
- Design of earth retaining structures
- Slope stabilizing measures
- Liquefaction mitigation
- Ground improvement
- Coordination and generation of geotechnical-based drawings and specifications
- Preparation of data, baseline, and interpretative reports
- Field assignments including observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing), and laboratory testing of soils and rock
- Design and installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring
- Inspection of earth retaining structures, deep foundations inspection and testing (drilled shafts, driven piles), shallow foundations, and trenchless pipe installation
- Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in field assignments related to geotechnical explorations and testing
- Knowledge of the process to design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and slope stabilization
- BS in Civil Engineering
- MS with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred)
- Experience with Plaxis is a plus

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
