Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

We have a great opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Morristown, New Jersey / New York offices and be part of the Geotechnical Group for the Northeast region. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from concept through construction, working on current and upcoming design-bid-build and design-build projects in highways, rail, water, environmental, ports and maritime, and advanced facilities sectors.

Responsibilities

• Design of shallow and deep foundations
• Design of earth retaining structures
• Slope stabilizing measures
• Liquefaction mitigation
• Ground improvement
• Coordination and generation of geotechnical-based drawings and specifications
• Preparation of data, baseline, and interpretative reports
• Field assignments including observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing), and laboratory testing of soils and rock
• Design and installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring
• Inspection of earth retaining structures, deep foundations inspection and testing (drilled shafts, driven piles), shallow foundations, and trenchless pipe installation
• Preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and specifications

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in field assignments related to geotechnical explorations and testing
• Knowledge of the process to design shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and slope stabilization
• BS in Civil Engineering
• MS with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
• Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred)
• Experience with Plaxis is a plus

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
