Actalent is seeking a Junior Geotechnical / Environmental Engineer to join its New York City team. This field-based position supports a variety of geotechnical and environmental investigation projects throughout the NYC metropolitan area, offering hands-on experience for an entry-level engineer.
Responsibilities
- Perform field oversight of geotechnical drilling and soil borings.
- Log soil and rock samples in accordance with project and industry standards.
- Coordinate drilling subcontractors and field activities.
- Conduct environmental sampling, including soil, groundwater, sediment, and waste characterization samples.
- Monitor and document field investigations and site conditions.
- Assist with installing and sampling monitoring wells.
- Collect, analyze, and organize field data.
- Prepare field reports, boring logs, and technical documentation.
- Support environmental site investigations, remediation projects, and geotechnical evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, health and safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Communicate with project managers, field staff, contractors, and clients regarding project progress and findings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of geotechnical and/or environmental field experience.
- Strong interest in field-based engineering work.
- Knowledge of geotechnical investigations, soil classifications, and environmental sampling procedures is preferred.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.

- Soil logging and geotechnical boring oversight

- Environmental site assessments (Phase I/Phase II)
- Technical report preparation
- Microsoft Office Suite
- AutoCAD experience is a plus

Pay
The pay range for this position is $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year. Individual compensation within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
Schedule

- Local travel throughout NYC and surrounding areas required
