Geologist
About the role
We are seeking a motivated and self-driven Geologist to join our growing team in Ventura, California. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing projects serving both public and private sector clients throughout Southern California.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical field investigations, including geologic mapping, drilling oversight, trench logging, and subsurface exploration.
- Observe and document site conditions for grading, earthwork, and construction projects.
- Perform field density testing and support concrete sampling and testing activities.
- Log soil and rock samples and assist with the interpretation of subsurface conditions.
- Prepare field documentation, boring logs, maps, cross-sections, and technical exhibits.
- Absorb and support laboratory testing and other field, office, and laboratory activities as needed.
- Collaborate with senior geologists and engineers on a wide range of infrastructure, commercial, and public works projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, Engineering Geology, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of professional geology or geotechnical field experience.
- California Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying field conditions and travel to project sites as needed.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ventura, CA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.
