Responsibilities
- Performs soil and rock classification in the field and laboratory
- Carries out hand auger borings, standard DCP testing, and Kessler DCP testing
- Conducts site reconnaissance and boring layout
- Serves as supervisor for field exploration programs for transportation projects, including participation in overnight travel, night, and weekend work
- Communicates and coordinates with subcontractors
- Aids in wetland delineation and underground utility clearance
- Engages in field surveying
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field
- Entry-level to 4 years of experience in a related field
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented and capable of working independently and within teams
- Willingness to undergo F&R’s pre-employment screening, including a background investigation, drug screening, and driving record check
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs
- Working in environments with dust and fumes
- Occasional overnight travel (less than 35%)
Qualifications
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license with a good-standing driving record
