Generator Field Service Technician - Houston, TX

About the role

Clifford Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for a position as a Generator Field Service Technician in the Houston area. No prior power generation experience is required; the company provides training for candidates with a solid understanding of how things work. Ideal candidates will have an understanding of combustion engines (typically diesel, natural gas, or propane), electricity (including 120/240V single-phase and 277/480V three-phase AC power, as well as 12V–24V DC controls), and experience using a laptop to interface with controls software.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service above and beyond customer expectations
• Troubleshoot and diagnose engine and electrical repairs on power generation equipment (engine-driven generators and automatic transfer switches)
• Perform work on power generation equipment located at customer sites or occasionally at the local shop
• Use safe practices when operating the service truck
• Perform preventive maintenance on power generation equipment
• Perform start-ups on new power generation equipment
• Perform warranty work on power generation equipment
• Process required paperwork and electronic submissions within deadlines
• Maintain parts inventory in the service truck
• Participate in the rotating responsibility of a 24/7 on-call technician rotation
