Generator Diesel Technician
About the Role
Perform overhauls, rebuilds, and failure analysis on diesel and gaseous engines in a shop environment—no field calls or service truck. This bench-based position offers a consistent schedule, no overnight travel, and a clear career path with company-paid training.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, and rebuild diesel and gaseous engines from teardown to reassembly in the shop.
- Perform accurate failure analysis and troubleshooting using electronic diagnostic tools.
- Determine parts requirements and qualify components for reuse per manufacturer reusability guidelines.
- Build a repair plan—operations and estimated repair hours—and document parts and labor accurately on work orders.
- Clean, inspect, and recondition components; complete clear inspection and teardown reports.
- Load-test rebuilt engines and verify performance before return to the customer.
- Service supporting systems—fuel, cooling, lubrication, air, and electrical.
- Keep a safe, clean, organized work area and follow all company, safety, and EPA standards.
Requirements
- 2+ years of diesel engine repair and overhaul experience, or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience with Cat, Cummins, John Deere, Isuzu, or MTU engines is a plus.
- Knowledge of A/C and D/C systems and engine diagnostics/troubleshooting.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to use diagnostic programs.
- One or more factory/OEM certifications preferred—company-paid training is available.
- Your own hand tools (Tool Replacement Insurance program provided).
