General Tutor

About the role

This position will help students develop abilities in non-stem related subjects such as Biology, Composition, Engineering, English, Languages, and Writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support for students in one or more non-stem related subject areas.
• Aid students in analyzing assignments and assigned readings.
• Aid students in interpreting discipline-specific problems and situations.
• Aid students in clarifying critical thinking and/or communication skills.
• Assist students working in an online format.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Reference from an instructor or professor if you are a current Olympic College student. High School Graduate, Equivalent, or Current Running Start Student. Completion of course(s) to be tutored with an average decimal grade of 3.5 or higher. Basic computer competency.
• Additional Qualifications: Successful Applicants will Demonstrate excellence in tutoring subject area. Follow campus regulations local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances. Work various hours. Work successfully in high-attendance, high-volume study centers. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Be adaptable and flexible. Foster a climate of multicultural understanding and appreciation. Function as a team player. Possess excellent customer service skills; including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction. Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision, and values. Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
