About the Role
This position provides instructional and non-instructional support in the school setting, assisting school staff as they focus on instructional initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direct supervision of certificated, administrative, or classified staff based on assigned duties.
- Support teachers with materials, supplies, and copying.
- Perform routine tasks in monitoring and assisting student progress within a classroom setting.
- Work with individual students or small groups as directed by certificated staff.
- Record observations and data regarding student progress as directed by the classroom teacher or administrator.
- Assist with before or after-school activities and accompany students on field trips.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development and training.
- Support English Language Learners, requiring an understanding of their unique needs.
- Work in an office, general school setting, or support elementary school health clinics as assigned by the nurse.
- Enter student records as needed.
- Provide clerical and other support if assigned to a school office or non-classroom setting.
- Supervise students in non-classroom settings, including lunchrooms, playgrounds, crosswalks, and parking lots.
- Collaborate with other staff members as required.
- Handle interruptions, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and remain flexible under pressure.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- At least one of the following:
- ETS Paraeducator Assessment,
- Associate of Arts degree (original transcripts),
- 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at an institution of higher education (original transcripts), or
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship program (certificate).
- Foreign degrees accepted if evaluated by a NACES member company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a school setting.
- Associate degree or equivalent.
Knowledge
- Basic academic knowledge in core content areas, with a focus on math and reading.
- Understanding of child development.
- Awareness of cultural and racial diversity.
- Basic computer skills, including keyboarding and data entry.
- Understanding of basic safety and emergency procedures, including hygiene and cleanliness.
Skills

Physical Requirements
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- May be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
Pay
AISP pay range P1-A: $24.66 per hour to $26.61 per hour (starting hourly rate is $24.66 per hour).
Schedule
3 hours per day, Monday through Friday (15 hours per week for a 180-day annual assignment). This is a temporary position ending on the last day of the 2026-27 school year.
