About the Role
This position involves managing a retail store to achieve sales goals and service objectives while leading a team of 10-20 members in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a blend of operational management, team leadership, and customer service, with a focus on both DIY and Professional Customers.
Responsibilities
- Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
- Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans.
- Oversee selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members.
- Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards.
- Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional).
- Perform manager-on-duty responsibilities, including touch base/coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, and open/close duties.
- Lead change management initiatives.
- Foster a respectful and diverse environment for both Customers and Team Members.
- Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installation.
- Assist District/Region in other functions as requested.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 members in a fast-paced and highly dynamic retail environment.
- Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- ASE Certification preferred but not required.
Skills
- Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred.
- Fluent in English (Spanish a plus); strong communication and relationship-building skills with Customers, peers, and upper management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred).
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent.
- Ability to review and analyze business reports, including profit and loss statements (P&L).
- Strong leadership skills, including holding others accountable, inspecting work quality, and providing inspiring feedback.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Friendly communication and ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Ability to become ASE P2 certified or ASE-ready equivalent.
- Advanced parts lookup and sourcing from multiple places, including special order, FDO, and second source.
- Ability to execute and train on project and product quality recommendations, store operational processes, testing and diagnostic equipment, inventory systems, store equipment, POS, and Parts lookup systems.
- Ability to recruit, select, hire, and develop quality Team Members.
- Ability to build and grow relationships with Professional Customers.
Physical Demands
- Predominantly walking or standing during work hours.
- Ability to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Primarily working indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades, exposing the employee to various weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
Pay
Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
