General Manager 1 - Environmental Services / Custodial

Sodexo is seeking a General Manager for Environmental Services / Custodial at Whitesburg ARH Hospital in Whitesburg, KY. The hospital is part of the Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), a not-for-profit health system operating 14 hospitals and the largest provider of care in southeastern Kentucky.

About the role

In this essential leadership role, you’ll guide environmental services operations to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. You’ll manage day-to-day performance, oversee budgets, and champion safety while inspiring your team of 17 frontline housekeepers to meet and exceed service expectations. Accountable for managing people, setting direction, and deploying resources, including performance evaluations, pay reviews, and hire/fire decisions. Results are achieved through the work of others, requiring strong influence and negotiation skills across the organization. Progression reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business knowledge, and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a dedicated team with clear goals and purposeful direction.
• Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and operational performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in a healthcare environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve outcomes.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading custodial or environmental services teams in a fast-paced setting.
• Leadership presence with a focus on team development, engagement, and retention.
• Solid understanding of budgeting, resource planning, and operational performance metrics.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in facilities or healthcare environments.
• Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of management experience.
• 5 years of related experience.

Pay

Pay range: $50,660 – $65,560 per year. Eligible to participate in Sodexo's incentive plan and earn variable compensation in addition to base salary. Compensation is determined by education level, years of relevant experience, skills, and training.
