About the Role
The General Maintenance position involves a variety of job tasks focused on machine care, parts service, and housekeeping within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Machine Care
- Lubricate braiders, winders, and other equipment (e.g., line shafts, worm gears).
- Vacuum or blow off machines (braiders, winders, cotton room, etc.).
- Replace floor dry, sweep, and mop floors.
- Perform changeovers as needed.
- Assist with air wash maintenance (clean, replace filters, pressure spray tanks and risers).
- Parts Service
- Identify and inspect carriers.
- Disassemble and rebuild carriers based on inspection.
- Remove and replace carriers as required.
- Operate degreaser according to procedure.
- Wash spools.
- Housekeeping
- Clean break rooms, restrooms, and grounds.
- Collect trash and recycle material waste.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Some general mechanical experience preferred.
- Forklift license required for some job tasks.
- Lockout certification.
Skills
- Attention to detail.
- Understanding of machine and parts functionality in assigned area.
- Ability to read and interpret safety and usage labels.
- Strong teamwork and face-to-face communication skills.
- Good attendance record.
Working Conditions
- Schedule: Generally 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with possible variations based on needs.
- Environment: Manufacturing setting; occasional work on the roof or surrounding property.
- Hearing protection required in most areas.
- Hot work area in summer months (degreaser/carrier build).
- Physical demands:
- Ability to stand, squat, and bend at the waist for prolonged periods.
- Ability to work with hands above head and perform repetitive motions.
- Occasional lifting of 20–50 lbs.
- Tools and equipment used: Basic hand tools, pushcart, cleaning supplies, broom/mop/bucket, electric oil cart, grease gun, vacuum, checker tools, individual carrier parts, assigned PPE.
