General Maint. Tech III (#015026) Lieber Correctional Inst, Ridgeville (DORCHESTER) Level 3
Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, ensures proper maintenance and preventive maintenance is performed on all institutional security equipment (mechanical locks, electrical locks, cell door locks, including maximum security component and door mechanisms).
Checks, maintains, and repairs all security fire doors.
Reviews/approves requisitions for supplies/equipment associated with the maintenance and repair of security equipment and prepares cost estimates for same.
Maintains and controls spare parts for making emergency repairs.
Serves in "on-call" status on rotating basis and is expected to take care of minor problems in other areas (plumbing, heating/ventilation and air conditioning, etc).
Directly supervises inmate workers.
Requirements
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
Qualifications
- High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment.
- Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis for basis.
- SCDC Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and 3 years professional experience in institutional general maintenance, construction, and repair.
