General Laborer II Streets- Part Year
About the Role
Performs duties for the Streets Division. This position is a 10-month maximum working 40 hours per week with a Medical Coverage option only. Incumbent may expect to work overtime as needed and is considered essential personnel required to report for duty in response to community emergencies (e.g., natural disaster, fire, flood, blizzard, etc.).
Schedule
Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Pay
The hiring range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Operates a variety of equipment such as tractor and various mowing equipment.
- Drives truck to deliver personnel and equipment to work sites and ensures truck is stocked with necessary materials and tools.
- Prepares vehicle mileage reports and performs routine maintenance on assigned vehicle.
- Performs debris cleanup at work sites.

Requirements
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of hire.
- Previous work experience with tractors/mowers and weed eaters preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Skills
- Must possess working knowledge in the operation of light construction and mowing equipment such as pickup, tractor, mower, etc.
- Must follow oral instructions and communicate effectively with co-workers and crew leaders.
- Must work in adverse conditions, such as extreme weather variances, heavy traffic and equipment noise, close proximity to moving vehicles, around fuels and fumes.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Frequent moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions.
- Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.
- Frequent exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
- Occasional exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
