General Field Technician/Mechanic (North Texas Area) - Austin Equipment Yard

About the role

Austin Industries is seeking a General Field Technician/Mechanic for heavy civil projects in the North Texas area. The ideal candidate will maintain, diagnose, and repair various types of concrete and/or asphalt paving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates smoothly
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues by using diagnostic equipment or by performing hands-on tests
• Repairing or replacing broken parts, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
• Maintain detailed service records for each piece of equipment for warranty, compliance, and tracking purposes
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ years of service and repair experience with concrete and/or asphalt paving equipment
• Prioritize experience with Roadtec, Wirtgen, Vogele, Weiler, and other brands of asphalt paving equipment
• Prioritize experience with Gomaco, Miller Formless, Wirtgen, Guntert & Zimmerman, and other brands of concrete paving equipment
• Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance skills
• Maintenance & Repair and Troubleshooting abilities
• Mechanical aptitude with required knowledge of: Diesel engines, Transmissions, Electrical systems, Hydraulic systems
• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Strong commitment to jobsite safety
• Diligent in demonstrating safe work practices

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be able to work hours adjusted to meet the project’s needs; days, nights and weekends
