Duties
- Helps perform repairs and modifications of miscellaneous DLA owned equipment, including industrial machinery.
- Operates a variety of mobile and stationary equipment such as portable industrial equipment, abrasive blasters machinery, power tools, and utility systems.
- Performs work involving the recovery, recycling, and reclaiming of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and Global Warming Potential (GWP) gases.
- Utilizes test, diagnose, and measure equipment such as leak detectors, pressure gauges, refrigerant identifier analyzers, and optic-lite cylinder inspection kits.
- Operates forklifts (4-6K pounds) and pallet jacks to transport cylinders and load heavy items for shipping or to Ozone Depleting Substances storage facilities.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Tour of duty: Set schedule.
- Security requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive.
- Appointment subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, and unfavorable background checks may lead to removal.
- Bargaining unit status: No.
- Pre-employment physical: Required.
- Must earn Section 608 Technician Certification within the first year of employment.
Qualifications
- Experience gained through volunteer work and other organizations is considered.
- Physical effort: Frequently handles objects up to 45 pounds, occasionally lifts more than 45 pounds.
- Working conditions: Indoors and outdoors, exposed to extreme temperatures and weather, constant exposure to moving objects, elevations, paint fumes, and sharp edges.
- Personal protective equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, respirators, and other safety equipment as required.
- Section 608 Technician Certification: Required within the first year of employment.
