About the Role

The General Contractor Superintendent will supervise construction job sites, providing leadership to field staff and ensuring successful completion of all trade work and adherence to safety standards. The Superintendent will work closely with Project Managers to ensure timely and quality completion of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Review working drawings including architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, electrical, and landscaping plans for details, buildability, alternative methods, conflicts, and dimensions.
  • Review project requirements from the client, including project manuals, safety, traffic control, meetings, documentation, and security.
  • Conduct initial site walk with Project Manager (PM) and review the Building Specification to confirm material, subcontractor, and equipment criteria, identifying potential project document conflicts.
  • Review scopes of work (SOWs) with PM before contracts are issued.
  • Produce three-week forecasts and weekly progress documents, ensuring photos are taken for project updates.
  • Review three-week schedule with PM before distribution every Thursday by 3 PM.
  • Prepare and review weekly owner/client update reports before sending on Fridays by 2 PM.
  • Oversee subcontractor management, including maintaining project plans, communication, correspondence, and subcontracts.
  • Set and document weekly on-site coordination and foreman meetings.
  • Daily review of scopes and troubleshooting with subcontractors, including job site cleanliness enforcement.
  • Document subcontractor manpower, deficiencies, competency, and effectiveness.
  • Set daily expectations and confirm completion of tasks.
  • Manage inspections and maintain daily Procore documentation (journal, photos, minutes, manpower log, issues, delays, RFIs).
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with owners, clients, architects, vendors, and city officials.
  • Review, coordinate, and implement safety measures and company programs to conform with OSHA standards.
  • Conduct periodic project inspections, focusing on owner concerns and labor productivity.
  • Monitor project material quantities and report deviations from original budgets.
  • Review approved project shop drawings and construction documents to coordinate project layout and field conditions.
  • Oversee punch list completion to receive a certificate of occupancy.
  • Maintain and manage the jobsite, including trailer, signage, material staging, vehicle access, and temporary utility access.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of job building sequence and scheduling.
  • Proficient in reading drawings.
  • Ability to coordinate all construction services and activities.
  • Experience in ground-up and tenant improvement (TI) work.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Procore.
  • Ability to use a computer, the internet, and email.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, and crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds at a time.
  • May require off-hours work to accommodate clients depending on the job.
