GENERAL CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR II
Duties Summary
Independently inspects all phases of public works construction and major maintenance projects, such as buildings, wharves, piers, pipelines, breakwaters, seawalls, paving and dredging, for conformance with plans, specifications, contracts, regulations and standard methods of work; assures compliance with designs, specifications and applicable workmanship, material and safety codes and standards; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Basic Education/Experience Requirement: Graduation from high school, or equivalent OR work experience which demonstrated the ability to read and apply oral and written instructions, write simply and directly and perform arithmetic computations.
General Experience: Two (2) Years of journey-level experience in one or more of the construction trades which provided the full range of specialized knowledge, skills, abilities and practices used in such trade(s) as applicable in the construction industry.
Specialized Experience: One (1) year of (A) Construction inspection work experience OR (B) Full-time supervisory work experience over a force of skilled trades workers in the construction industry, provided the experience involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship and materials for adherence to such plans and specifications.
Non-Qualifying Experience
Experience in such positions as the following WILL NOT be accepted as qualifying: Engineering Aid or Draftsman Equipment Operators Materials Inspector Automotive Mechanic Machinist Welder

Testing Information: The examination for this recruitment will be conducted on an unassembled basis where the examination score is based on an evaluation and rating of your education and experience.
Selective Certification: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of application.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program: The PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans. To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
