About the Role
This position serves as the General Accountant & Supervisor. General discretion and judgment are exercised routinely in the execution of job duties. Errors in judgment or professional execution can have severe consequences for the department.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and review Equipment Inventory Registers.
- Assist in the preparation of month-end closing, post journal entries, and prepare various financial analyses and other accounting reports.
- Maintain control of general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Supervise, direct, and monitor the work of assigned accounting personnel, including Accounting Clerks.
- Review and reconcile general ledger accounts and related reports, making necessary adjustments.
- Update Inventory detail, Dealer Business System (DBS), and/or CDK as needed.
- Analyze and report Gross Profit compared to prior year.
- Prepare audit work documentation and assist auditors by providing required information.
- Work with Senior Accountants to resolve operating statement problems, make adjustments as needed, and perform ad hoc analyses/reports.
- Perform special projects for Finance Management as needed.
- Participate in special Six Sigma projects and other processes to improve production methods.
- Keep current on developments in related accounting fields; recommend new and improved procedures and techniques where appropriate.
- Provide assistance and help solve problems related to online systems for both accounting and operations personnel.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of accounting personnel, including Accounting Clerks.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Appraise performance, reward, and implement corrective action with employees.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
- Take prompt and effective measures to correct work deficiencies.
Interpersonal Contacts
- Internal contacts include all levels of positions in the company, from business unit leaders to entry-level roles. Regularly exchange information in person, in writing, via telephone, or by electronic transfer.
- External contacts may include labor leaders, lawyers, government representatives, vendors, consultants, and other employees or managers.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree from a fully accredited college in Business or a technical school; and a minimum of three years of directly related experience in full-cycle accounting, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- AS400 experience preferred.

Pay
Pay range: $84,740.85 - $93,009 - $103,343 (DOE).
